Harlow Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Amin Abdelbaqi as our new Group Projects Director, effective from November 2024. Mr. Abdelbaqi brings with him an illustrious career spanning over 30 years in the engineering and project management sectors. His expertise and global perspective are sure to drive our strategic vision across multiple industries.
Mr. Abdelbaqi is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in the United Kingdom. His career boasts significant roles in the petrochemical, refining, power generation, and water treatment sectors. Over twenty-two years at Foster Wheeler Energy Limited, he honed his skills as a Lead Project Engineer, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, and ultimately as a Project Director. His tenure there laid the foundation for his reputation as an accomplished leader, capable of steering multi-billion-dollar projects from conception to successful completion.
In addition to his impactful work at Foster Wheeler (UK), Mr. Abdelbaqi has held senior roles at KBR and as Project Director for Worley (UK) and Jacobs/Worley. His responsibilities have encompassed every phase of project management—from initial bidding and front-end engineering design (FEED) to procurement, site construction, commissioning, and handover. His leadership has driven successful outcomes for projects not only in the United Kingdom but also in the United States, Canada, the Middle East, South Korea, South Africa, Singapore, and Australia.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Abdelbaqi has been instrumental in delivering projects of varying scales—from small and medium initiatives to mega projects worth several billion dollars. His expertise in managing complex FEED, EPC, EPCm, and PMC projects has earned him accolades, including financial successes and industry awards. His strategic oversight and ability to exceed financial targets have consistently positioned his teams for excellence in safety, quality, and commercial performance.
Mr. Abdelbaqi’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the UK and a Master of Science in Computer Aided Engineering from the UK. These qualifications have supported his ability to integrate advanced engineering principles with innovative project management techniques, ensuring that each project he leads is executed with precision and efficiency.
